The Cessna 208, bound for Bakersfield, experienced a technical problem and aborted takeoff at around 7 a.m., FedEx spokeswoman Bonnie Kourvelas said.
At that point, the plane's left main tire and brakes caught fire, Kourvelas said.
Fire crews quickly put out the fire and the plane was towed to the ramp, where cargo was offloaded, she said.
The pilot of the plane was not injured, and authorities were investigating the cause of the problem, Kourvelas said.
The plane was operated for FedEx by Fresno-based contractor Westair Industries Inc.
