Man may have abducted baby
An infant girl is believe to have been abducted by a man bound for Mexico, sheriff's deputies reported.
Deputies said they responded to a child abuse complaint at a residence Saturday evening and searched unsuccessfully for Jesus Vargas Espinosa and 10-month-old Angelle Negron, then resumed the search Sunday morning.
During the morning search, deputies said, they were told that Espinosa may be headed for Mexico, and asked that anyone with information about Espinosa or the missing baby call either Investigator Shaheen Jorgensen or Investigative Sgt. Fire damages Old Wax Museum Saturday
Fire caused an estimated $30,000 damage to the Old Wax Museum at 700 Cannery Row early Saturday morning.
Firefighters said a sprinkler was activated in the building which set off an alarm alerting them to the blaze.
The system contained the fire, firefighters said, and they were able to finish extinguishing it.

Children playing with matches start fire
Children playing with matches ignited a fire in a closet in a house at 1148 Clementina Ave. Saturday morning, firefighters reported.
The blaze broke out shortly before 9:30 a.m., firefighters said, adding that all occupants of the house escaped injury. The fire was confined to the closet, with no major damage to the house.
