Heavy snow, rain and gusty winds are expected in the Inland Empire starting this afternoon through Wednesday.

The cold storm coming from the Gulf of Alaska is expected to drop snow levels to 2,000 to 2,500 feet tonight, affecting areas including Beaumont, Yucaipa and the High Desert, the National Weather Service said.

About one to three inches of snow could fall today in the San Bernardino Mountains, and another six to 10 inches is possible tonight.

Forecasters say winds at 15 to 25 mph and gusts as high as 35 mph are also expected.

The chance of rain today in San Bernardino and surrounding cities is 80 percent. Hail and heavy rain is possible tonight.

There is a 40 percent chance of showers Wednesday before 10 a.m.
