He was captured when his vehicle crashed into a tractor trailer in Monrovia.
At 1:20 p.m., La Verne police received a 9-1-1 call about a robbery at the Wells Fargo, 1487 Foothill Blvd.
The culprit got into a silver Hyundai Elantra and headed east on Foothill Boulevard. Police didn't say how much money, if any, the man stole.
Officers found the car southbound on D Street toward Bonita Avenue.
When officers tried to pull over the vehicle, the driver led them on pursuit exceeding 90 mph on city streets, Lt. Tom Frayeh said in a statement.
Frayeh said the chase went through La Verne, San Dimas, Glendora then west on the 210 Freeway and south on the 605 Freeway.
The speeding driver honked at other vehicles as he weaved past them on the freeway. He got off at Live Oak Avenue.
Monrovia police Lt. Nels Ortlund said the driver crashed into a tractor trailer on Myrtle and Live Oak avenues. The truck driver wasn't injured, Ortlund said.
The suspect ran but was caught.
La Verne police identified him as 30-year-old Dwight McGarrah.
La Verne police Sgt. Carlton Williams said McGarrah's knee was injured in the crash and he was taken to Los Angeles County USC Medical Center. He didn't know McGarrah's current condition.
Once released from the hospital, police said McGarrah will be booked on suspicion of robbery, evading police and reckless driving.
Police didn't have details about the other robberies.
