SANTA CRUZ -- Tom Ralston Concrete of Santa Cruz won first place for Best Specialty Concrete at the 2013 World of Concrete in Las Vegas for the 'Geo Strata Terrace' project at Pleasure Point for the county of Santa Cruz. The project featured a 5 million year-old whale bone unearthed in 2009 by Santa Cruz paleontologists a few hundred yards from the site. Ralston's company cast other fossils from the Monterey Bay into concrete and then infused them along with aquarium sand, shells and beach glass.
