Sophie is our longest-term guest here at the shelter. This is an honor she would dearly like to pass along to someone else though. This beautiful, sleek, 4-year-old tortoiseshell cat has been with us since November ... far too long! She has been so very patient here and is a favorite with the cat TLC volunteers.
Sophie will be the perfect companion cat for someone. She is not a needy sort, very glad to be near you, not on you, and is both quiet and attentive. She is most partial to feather toys and knows just what to do with the cardboard scratching pads!
Sophie's name comes for the Greek word for wisdom, and she does seem like a wise old soul. She has been steady and patient through her many months at the shelter, and her spirits remain high. Once she has been properly introduced to people and learned that they are her friends, she will often adore them with feline "eye-kisses". (When a cat sits near you, gazing up into your face and batting their eye lashes at you, it is a sure sign of their devotion).
She is a rather unassuming sort, not holding out for a mansion or even beach-front property (though I'm sure she'd settle right in sunbathing and being decorative). This gracious queen (that is what female cats are called) is just in search of a place to call her own. She is hoping for a family that will understand her preference for being inside only. On the whole, indoors kitties live longer, healthier
We have many wonderful pets just waiting to introduce themselves to you, with the help of our volunteers. Come on down to the shelter and visit!
