PLEASURE POINT -- An oceanfront house sustained major damage in a wind-whipped fire that started just after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
When firefighters arrived, they found the attic of the two-story house, which sits on the 2800 block of South Palisades, heavily involved. Central Fire firefighters quickly called in backup units, including some smaller engines, to help maneuver the tight neighborhood. Smoke filled the neighborhood for blocks as 12-14 mph winds spread smoke throughout.
East Cliff was closed at 38th Avenue and 26th Avenue while firefighters battled the blaze, according to emergency dispatches.
The fire was contained to the one house.
