Update to this story: Crystal found unharmed

LA SELVA BEACH - A 300-pound quartz crystal worth several thousand dollars was stolen from a farm on Zils Road.

Workers at Crystal Bay Farm at 40 Zils Road last saw the crystal Saturday night and noticed it missing Monday morning, said Santa Cruz County sheriff's Lt. Bob Payne. It was next to an unattended fruit and vegetable stand where customers leave money to pay for items. It was about 2 feet tall and 11 inches wide.

The crystal was not visible from the road, said Crystal Bay Farm co-owner Lori Fiorovick. It was given to the farm about five years ago and was the farm's mascot, Fiorovick said.

It would have taken more than one person to move, she added.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office asks anyone with information to call the investigations division at 831-454-2311 or the anonymous tipline at 831-454-5995.
