Storage units new targets for thieves
Marina police issued a warning on Friday about growing numbers of burglaries of home storage sheds and commercial self-storage units.
Thieves are operating day and night and are targeting locked and unlocked storage facilities. Popular items being taken are power tools, landscaping tools and electronic devices, police said.
Police asked the public to be watchful of their storage units and to report any suspicious activity.
SALINAS
Two gunmen rob pizza restaurant
Two men with handguns forced employees at a Papa John's Pizza to open the cash register and hand over cash late Thursday, Salinas police said.
The robbery happened about 8:40 p.m. at 1568 Constitution Blvd.
The robbers wore black clothing, had their faces covered and wore backpacks, police said.
They took an undisclosed amount of money.
SALINAS
Drugs, stolen property found in police search
Sheriff's deputies said they found holsters, drugs, gang materials and stolen property in an early Friday search of a Reata Drive residence.
Deputies started the search in the 300 block of Reata Drive at 7 a.m., and two probation searches were conducted on Alvarado Street and Sherman Drive.
Deputies said the residents were at large.
