Three suspected carjackers were arrested on charges they threatened a man and stole his vehicle Saturday night.
Isidro Zavala, 22, and two teenage boys — a 17-year-old and 14-year-old — were arrested about 8:20 p.m. on suspicion of holding up a 26-year-old victim with a .22 caliber rifle and taking his 2005 Lincoln Navigator. Police said the man had just parked his vehicle on Tuscany Boulevard when he was approached by two males wearing all-black clothing. One of the suspects hit the driver's side window with the butt of a rifle and ordered the victim out of the vehicle. The victim fled on foot, and reported last seeing the vehicle traveling on Montebella Avenue.
According to police, a sheriff's deputy later spotted the vehicle traveling on Crazy Horse Canyon Road before it stopped near Highway 101 and all three occupants fled on foot. Joint task force officers helped search the area and found the suspects hiding in poison oak nearby, police said. The rifle was found in the vehicle, according to police.
Zavala was booked into Monterey County Jail for carjacking, gun and gang-related charges, resisting arrest and violation of parole. The two teens were booked into Juvenile Hall.
