LIVERMORE
East Meets West exhibit on display this month
The annual East Meets West exhibit, featuring paintings, photographs, sculpture and poetry, will be displayed in January in the Livermore Library's Civic Center Gallery at 1188 S. Livermore Ave.
Visitors can see the exhibit and meet the artists at a free reception Saturday from 12:30 to 4 p.m. The exhibits began in 2007, started by Livermore artist Lily Xu to celebrate paintings from Asian and Western traditions.
This year's exhibit includes art by Bill Paskewitz, the late Merilyn "Tilli" Calhoun, Walter Davies, Kurt Fehlberg and Katie Caulk; and poetry by the city's Poet Laureate Cher Wollard, Jim Curcuro and Kay Speaks.
The library is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. For details, call 925-373-5500.

ALAMO
Rabbi Lerner to address interfaith MLK event
San Ramon Valley United Methodist Church will hold its sixth annual interfaith Martin Luther King Jr. Day event on Jan 21.
The 7 p.m. event will be held at the Wesley Center in the church at 902 Danville Blvd. in Alamo.
There will be music and songs from the Freedom Movement. The guest speaker will be Rabbi Michael Lerner, the editor
