Dramatic decline in California's teen birthrates over 22 years
According to the annual Kids Count Data Book report released Tuesday, the teen birthrate for females ages 15 to 19 in the state has dropped 63 percent between 1990 and 2012. Experts attribute the drop to a variety of factors, including statewide policies and funding aimed at pregnancy prevention, as well as increased access to contraceptives and abortions.
