HAYWARD -- A Winton Middle School teacher is facing felony child pornography charges in San Francisco, where he lives.
According to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, William Foreman, 41, turned himself in to police and was arrested on Sept. 13 following an investigation.
San Francisco police declined to provide details of the investigation and what they believe Foreman did, but the district attorney said charges include a felony count of possession of child porn, a felony count of distributing obscene material depicting a person under 18, and a misdemeanor count related to the sexual exploitation of a child.
Hayward Unified School District officials said Foreman was placed on administrative leave Aug. 24.
Foreman was arraigned on Sept. 17, but his plea was delayed until Oct. 28, according to district attorney spokeswoman Erica Derryck. He has been released on bail.
Foreman, who has an address in the Crocker-Amazon neighborhood of San Francisco, has been employed by Hayward Unified since the 2006-07 school year. Before teaching at Winton, he taught at Hayward High.
Hayward police said they are not part of the investigation.
