OAKLAND -- A man found shot to death and wrapped in fabric in the back seat of a car last week in East Oakland was identified by police Tuesday as Billy Brooks Jr., 39, of Pittsburg.
His identity was confirmed through dental records, authorities said.
He was found dead about 5 p.m. Oct. 7 in the back seat of his car that was parked in the 2400 block of Ritchie Street not far from Arroyo Viejo Park. The car had been there a few days.
Police said they were told by relatives that Brooks was a salesman for Comcast and that he had a daughter.
Officer Eric Milina said Brooks used to live in East Oakland but that police are not sure what he was doing in the city when he was killed. Milina said police don't have a motive for the killing and no arrests have been made.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the killer.
