OAKLAND -- A 20-year-old man fatally shot in East Oakland Tuesday afternoon was identified by police Wednesday as Thomas Cochran of San Leandro.

Cochran was shot about 1:04 p.m. Tuesday in the 10700 block of Myers Street across from the Foothill Square shopping center. He died later at a hospital.

Officer Jason Andersen said Cochran had links to Oakland and frequently "hung out" in the area where he was shot.

Andersen said police still don't have a motive for the killing and no arrests have been made.

There have been other recent fatal shootings in the same area, including one last week in the 10700 block of Voltaire Avenue, but so far police have not made any connections.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of Cochran's killer.
