OAKLAND -- One man was killed and three others wounded in separate shootings that occurred within seven hours Sunday in different neighborhoods in East Oakland, police said Monday.
None of the shootings appear to be connected so far and no arrests had been made in any of the cases.
The fatal shooting happened about 10:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of 9th Avenue.
The victim, Clifford Mosby-Snead, 27, was taken to Highland Hospital where he died at 11:58 p.m. Investigators said Mosby-Snead had moved from West Oakland to a home a few blocks away from where he was shot and may have just gotten off a bus when he was confronted. Officer Phong Tran said police don't have a motive at this time.
Mosby-Snead was the father of one child and had worked for about a year as a sales representative for a downtown telemarketing company, officials said.
At 9:10 p.m. a man was shot during an attempted robbery in the 2600 block of Rawson Street in the Maxwell Park area. He was in stable condition at a hospital. Nothing was taken from the man by the three suspects who fled in a car, police said.
At 8:25 p.m. a 25-year-old man was shot in the 1000 block of 72nd Avenue. He was in critical condition at a hospital.
No motive was released.
At 4:52 p.m. a man was shot in the 8700 block of Hillside Street. He was in critical condition at a hospital. No motive was released in that shooting, although the area is known for drug activity.
The killing was Oakland's 106th homicide of the year. Late last year at this time there were 96 homicides in the city.
