Ramen pop-up: There's a new approach to late-night dining brewing at Oakland's Hopscotch restaurant, where a Yonsei Ramen Shop pop-up launched last week. Actually, it's more of a quasi-pop-up. The restaurant within a restaurant is the work of Hopscotch chef Kyle Itani, who will be doing a meat and a vegetarian ramen ($9) every Friday from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. Details: 1915 San Pablo Ave., http://hopscotchoakland.com.
Plum gig: If you watched the recent finale of "Top Chef Masters," the one in which Incanto chef Chris Cosentino took the top toque, you probably spotted Manfred Wrembel as his sous. Now Wrembel is jumping ship to take over the exec chef post at Daniel Patterson's Plum in Oakland. Expect major menu changes. Instead of shareable small plates, Wrembel will be doing appetizers, entrees and so on, including squash ravioli with Brussels sprouts and chestnuts, for example, and spaetzle with apple, dandy greens and cheddar. Martha awards: If you're a Martha Stewart devotee, you know about her American Made Awards ceremony, held in New York last month. Among the artisans honored at the festivities: Lena Kwak, whose Yountville gluten-free flour and food company, Cup4Cup, has the backing and support of her French Laundry mentor, Thomas Keller. Find details at http://cup4cup.com.
Now it turns out another Bay Area-ite was on hand for the celebration, too: cherry and apricot maven Deborah Olson from Sunnyvale's CJ Olson fruit stand, who was invited as one of "Martha Stewart Living's Favorites." Olson brought her dried Blenheim apricots to be served at the awards ceremony, held at New York City's Grand Central Terminal. "It was beautifully decorated in true Martha fashion," Olson says. (We expected no less.) You can get your hands on some apricots of your own at Olson's food and gift fair, which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Details: 348 West El Camino Real, Sunnyvale; www.cjolsoncherries.com.
