SAN BERNARDINO - Prosecutors will seek life in state prison without parole for a San Bernardino woman accused of killing her husband, longtime television repairman John "Jack" Cone, in his home last year.

Also facing a possible life sentence are defendants Shawna Marie Bayless and Gary Michael Gallion, prosecutors said Friday during a court hearing at San Bernardino Superior Court, where the three made an appearance clad in orange jumpsuits.

The death penalty was an option, San Bernardino County Deputy District Attorney Cary Epstein said, but "the office felt that, based on the totality of all the circumstances, the background and history of the defendants, the appropriate sentence in this case would be life without parole.

The three defendants are charged with murder, robbery and burglary in the April 2 death of Cone, according to court records. Laurie Cone also has been charged with solicitation of murder.

At the hearing, a new allegation was added to the criminal complaint for all three defendants: murder committed during the commission of a burglary and robbery, Epstein said.

Laurie Cone reported her husband's death to police when she returned to home, which doubled as Jack Cone's business - D/C Radio and Television - on North Sierra Way in San Bernardino, and found his body about 4:20 a.m. Cone and her daughter, Jackie Cone, had spent the evening gambling at San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino.

It was just days after the Cone's 29th wedding anniversary. About 20 guns and John Cone's Ford F-150 pickup were missing from the residence.

Police say an investigation showed that Laurie Cone conspired to have her husband killed for personal financial gain.

All three defendants have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Trial dates were moved to February because Epstein is involved with another case. As of now, the three defendants are expected to be tried together.
