Lip-syncing is hardly a criminal offense -- unless you don't even sing on your own album. But we'll get to Milli Vanilli in a second. Here are five note noteworthy lip-syncers.

Ashlee Simpson: Back when Jessica's younger sister still had a career, she "performed" the song "Pieces of Me" on "Saturday Night Live." When her second song started, "Pieces of Me" accidentally started again. Ashlee reacted like any professional would. She did some sort of hoedown dance, then ran away.

Lindsay Lohan: Remember when Lindsay Lohan was a singer? No, really. She made a record and everything. Then she went on "Good Morning America" and lip-synched so badly, they probably gave her a drug test afterward.

Britney Spears: Let's see if we can narrow it down to one incident ... nope. Have you ever seen Britney Spears live? Then you've seen her lip-sync. But at least she usually looks good doing it.

Milli Vanilli: After winning a Grammy for Best New artist in 1990, it was discovered that models Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus didn't sing one word on their record. It was a massive scandal that ended up with them giving back their Grammy. In 1998, Pilatus was found dead of a suspected alcohol and prescription drug overdose in a Frankfurt, Germany, hotel room.

The Rolling Stones: It might seem a little weird that one of history's live bands would make this list. But in their "Start Me Up" video, they're supposed to be lip-syncing. But at a couple spots, the writhing Mick Jagger just stops moving his lips. It's the Stones -- why should they care?
