Sunset magazine is once again opening its Menlo Park campus for Celebration Weekend, two days of inspiration and seminars on food, wine, home, garden and travel. And, from the looks of things, it's shaping up to be the foodiest year ever for the fest.
Celebrity chefs Fabio Viviani ("Top Chef") and Susan Feniger (LA's Border Grill) have both been tapped as headliners for the June 1-2 event. He'll demo fresh-egg pasta and "lazy meatballs" both days and square off against Safeway's exec chef, Jeff Anderson, in a secret-ingredient smackdown. She'll appear June 1 to cook a spicy Malaysian-Burmese menu.
It's a deep lineup beyond those two, with cooking-stage appearances by Ludo Lefebvre (sure to be a new crowd fave, thanks to "The Taste"), Tanya Holland (Oakland's Brown Sugar Kitchen), Yigit Pura (Toot Suite Patisserie), Alex Stratta (Scarpetta Beverly Hills), Ryan Scott (Market & Rye) and many others.
Also on the schedule are campsite cooking ideas, grilling lessons, the always-popular wine seminars and an expanded lineup of about 20 food trucks and tents from Off the Grid. Look for Bacon Bacon, Chotto, Ebbett's, The Chairman, Little Green Cyclo, Rosamunde Sausage Grill and Creme Brulee Cart in the crowd, plus beverages by Soda Craft and Rye on the Road.
Details: Admission, $18 for adults, teens; $15 for seniors 60 and up. Fees apply for wine seminars ($30) and Weber Grilling School ($30, includes cookbook, tool set). 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days at 80 Willow Road, Menlo Park, with free shuttles from Caltrain, other lots. www.sunset.com/cw.
