A Manhattan federal judge has ordered former Miss Pennsylvania Sheena Monnin to pay $5 million for defaming Donald Trump and the Miss USA pageant by declaring that the beauty contest is "rigged."

The 30-page ruling from Judge J. Paul Oetken upheld an arbitration award against Monnin for her comments after competing in last year's Miss USA Pageant, which is owned and run by Trump.

Monnin, who resigned as Miss Pennsylvania last year, claimed another Miss USA contestant learned the names of the top five finishers hours before the show was broadcast. Monnin said she resigned when the same contestants were named during the show. She was not the winners.

But Oetken ruled that Monnin's claims were not substantiated and thus defamatory.

So, for the record, the Miss USA might be silly, stupid, sexist, archaic and utterly cheesy, but goshdarnit, it's legit.

"The court does not take lightly that Monnin is compelled to pay what is a devastating monetary award," Oetken wrote in his decision.
