Hobbit fans, meet Smaug.
The just released trailer for "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" gives fans their first peek at Benedict Cumberbatch as Smaug, the dragon villain in the second installment of Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy. Well, fans get to hear Smaug, anyway.
The trailer ends with Cumberbatch's low rumbling voice saying, "Thief, where are you? Come now. Don't be shy. Step into the light."
The movie opens Dec. 13 and picks up where "An Unexpected Journey" left off last year.
The trailer also hints to a possible romance between Orlando Bloom's Legolas character and Tauriel, an elf played by Evangeline Lilly.
