A home security resource company has named Saratoga as the safest city in California.

SafeWise Security Systems named Saratoga first among the 50 safest cities in California with at least 20,000 residents, stating: "The most recent FBI crime report reveals that less than 20 violent crimes and two robberies were reported in law enforcement in 2011, which is commendable."

The study was based on data from the most recent FBI statistics as well as the company's own research since 2011.

Other local cities on the list are Los Altos, Danville, San Ramon, Cupertino, Foster City, Pacifica, Hercules, Sunnyvale, Dublin, Lafayette, Benicia, Oakley, Petaluma, Pleasanton, and Belmont.
