The Bay Area music scene will be well-represented at South by Southwest, the prestigious music festival and conference that runs March 11-16 in Austin, Texas.

We're doing a series spotlighting some of the Bay Area acts headed to Texas. In this episode, we focus on The Chain Gang of 1974 and Adrian Marcel.

The Chain Gang of 1974 -- Kamtin Mohager, the San Jose native who is the driving force behind this Chain Gang, likes to take listeners on very wild rides. His music jumps through both genres and decades with equal ease, ending up in a place where Phil Collins, Skrillex and Men Without Hats could live happily ever after. It's modern EDM (electronic dance music), but nostalgically so.

Adrian Marcel-- He's one the Bay Area's most promising young R&B talents, who nicely showcases his potential on the new album "7 Days of Weak." The Oakland singer is also operating under the wing of legendary East Bay soul star Raphael Saadiq, which certainly doesn't hurt his chances.
