'House of Cards' star Kevin Spacey will play Winston Churchill in the upcoming film "Captain of the Gate."

No disrespect intended, but he should probably start eating now.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Sierra/Affinity is producing and financing the film for around $20 million. Which leads one to believe there won't be any expensive special effects, like lasers and spaceships which, as we all know, tipped the scales to the Allied cause during World War II.

Fine ... I guess they don't want this movie to be believable.

As you know, Churchill was prime minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945 and again from 1951 to 1955 and is widely regarded as one of the greatest wartime leaders of the 20th century. "Captain of the Gate" will reportedly chronicle Churchill's rise to power as he stood against parliament to defend Britain from Nazi Germany.

Ben Kaplan, who previously wrote about the late President Ronald Reagan for a History Channel film, wrote the screenplay.
