Dog owners are never shy about spreading their pets' pictures around, and most of us have been known to, at least once, dress up the dog. So it seems that World Cup 2014 has created the perfect storm, giving dog fanciers across the globe a chance to show off their lovable mutts, support their favorite national soccer team and do it all in cyberspace.
Social media is the perfect place for showing off our dogs and World Cup spirit. Instagram has been flooded with pictures of dogs in various World Cup attire. The folks at Klooff, a popular pet photo-sharing app, also noticed the trend and took it to another level, creating posters using an assortment of dogs.
A spokeswoman for Klooff says the World Cup is garnering more social media activity than the past Super Bowl, Olympics and Academy Awards combined and has created a surprising new fan base involving pets.
Klooff says the gallery of posters it created illustrates a cultural shift in the way people celebrate their pets' personalities and involve them in their everyday lives.
I don't know about that, but it certainly has produced some cute pictures of dogs in costume.
