BRENTWOOD -- A 14-year-old boy wanted in connection with a "sexting" incident at a Brentwood middle school has been taken into custody, authorities said.

Authorities arrested the teenager on Monday, and he was booked into juvenile hall in Martinez, according to Brentwood police.

The charges the boy is facing were not released, but authorities said his arrest is related to an investigation opened in March of Adams Middle School students who were "sexting," exchanging nude or partially nude images of themselves via text message.

Several students at multiple schools were believed to have sent or received images, police have said, including one student who allegedly used an incriminating picture of a girl to force her into sexual acts.

Last week, Brentwood police reported that the boy refused to turn himself in, and was not home when officers visited his home on two occasions. A felony warrant for the boy's arrest was issued in late June.

It wasn't immediately known if other students would be arrested or face charges. The investigation is ongoing.
