OAKLAND -- A 25-year-old man was in critical condition Wednesday after being shot inside his car Tuesday night in the Fruitvale district, police said.

Police have not been able to interview the man yet. He was wounded in the leg and side. His name was not released.

Investigators are trying to determine if the man was shot by someone inside the vehicle with him or from outside.

The shooting happened about 10:25 p.m. Tuesday, apparently in the area of Coolidge and Paxton avenues.

After the shooting, the man was able to drive to Highland Hospital, where sheriff's deputies notified police.

Police don't have a motive yet and are interviewing some potential witnesses, but so far no arrests have been made.
