OAKLAND — A 23-year-old man was shot to death Tuesday night while walking near his East Oakland home, police said.

Police identified the man as Morris McCall.

The shooting happened about 9:25 p.m. Tuesday in the 2700 block of 35th Avenue, a few blocks from McCall's home.

A gunman opened fire on him, wounding him more than once, police said. He was taken to Highland Hospital, where he died at 9:54 p.m.

Police said they have no motive for the killing and no one has been arrested.

The killing was Oakland's 10th homicide of the year. Last year at this time there were nine reported homicides.
