Forums: Standalone message boards where readers can start and participate in discussions about any topic.

Why am I getting e-mails on stories I posted to? Can I change the frequency and/or stop them?

InsideBayArea.com has upgraded its article commenting system so you can now follow stories you are interested in via e-mail as well as online. To start, when you post a new comment on an article, you will be automatically signed up to receive e-mail alerts every 4 hours if there are further comments on that story. You can change this setting if you prefer to receive the message more or less frequently or not at all.

To change the frequency of the e-mail alerts: Go to the forums here. Sign in to your account (if you are not already signed in) then click the "My Account" link on the left. Click on the "Subscriptions" tab within your account profile where you can change the "send interval" to be hourly, every four hours or daily. Note: If you prefer to receive the alerts as separate messages for every comment, uncheck the "Digest mode" box.

To stop the automatic subscription when you comment: If you do not wish to be automatically subscribed to e-mails when you post a comment on an article, you can turn off this feature by going to
