ANTIOCH — A 31-year-old ice cream vendor was robbed and pistolwhipped Wednesday afternoon in downtown Antioch, police said.
A man ordered two ice creams around 2:30 p.m. and asked the Oakland vendor if he had change for a $100 bill on West Eighth Street near G Street. When the vendor said he only had $30 in cash, the suspect pistolwhipped him, took the money and jumped into a blue car, which sped away, Antioch police Lt. Leonard Orman said. The suspect broke the gun — which they believe was an air gun — when he struck the victim, Orman said.
The suspect is described as a white man, 30 to 35 years old, 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, 175 to 180 pounds, with blond hair and two dragon tattoos on his forearms, Orman said. He fled in a blue four-door, 1990s Ford Escort-type vehicle, he said.
