FREMONT - The Alameda County Coroner's office has identified the victim of a fatal motorcycle accident on I-680 Thursday morning as Thomas Warren Clark, 59, of Antioch.
Clark, a carpenter, was killed on southbound I-680 just south of Washington Boulevard about 4:45 a.m. Thursday.
The California Highway Patrol said witnesses reported Clark apparently applied the brakes on his 2007 Harley Davidson and lost control. They saw the bike skid for about 50 feet, then fall over and continue skidding for another 100 feet. At the point the victim fell from the bike, but the motorcycle continued sliding for another 100 feet, witnesses told the CHP.
Clark was declared dead at the scene.
The accident caused closure of the southbound freeway for nearly two hours.
