A 20-year-old Oakland man was arrested Monday night after he allegedly used a knife to hold one person at bay while sexually assaulting a second victim, police announced today.

At about 8:15 p.m., Troyshawn Robinson reportedly confronted the victims south of Gladys Avenue on a pathway underneath raised Bay Area Rapid Transit tracks, known locally as the BART path, El Cerrito police Detective Cpl. Susan Garman said.

Robinson allegedly brandished a knife and sexually assaulted one victim while holding the other at bay, Garman said.

He then allegedly fled on foot, but was apprehended by El Cerrito police a short distance away, according to Garman.

Robinson was taken to the Martinez Detention Facility pending the filing of charges by the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office.

Police did not release a description of the victims.
