BAY POINT — A car fire early this morning sparked a grass fire that spread to an auto yard before it was extinguished, the Contra Costa Fire District said.
The single-alarm blaze was reported at 5:09 a.m. near the intersection of Willow Pass Road and Balclutha Way, a fire dispatcher said. It was brought under control within an hour by a crew of about 10 firefighters.
No injuries were reported.
Eight vehicles in the auto yard and half an acre of grassland were burned by the fire, the dispatcher said. A damage estimate or cause for the initial car fire were not immediately available this morning.
