Northbound traffic on I-880 is backed up from the 7th Street area of Oakland. An overturned big rig is underneath the freeway interchange by 7th and West Grand Avenue. Hazardous materials crews have been called in to handle a 40-gallon diesel spill seeping into a storm drain. The U.S. Coast Guard has been contacted.

The accident occurred about 2:30 p.m. Details are fully available as of 3:20 but another vehicle is also involved. The CHP reports the truck driver's nose is bleeding profusely and the other driver is semi-conscious.
