SAN JOSE -- San Jose State quarterback David Fales, tight end Ryan Otten and defensive end Travis Johnson all earned honorable mention All-America honors from Sports Illustrated on Tuesday.
Fales, a junior, has set single-season school records for passing yards (3,798), touchdown passes (31), completions (294) and total offense (3,668). He's also in line to break the school records for completion percentage and passing efficiency.
Otten, a senior, was fourth on the team with 44 catches, second with 706 receiving yards and tied for third with four touchdowns. With 123 career catches for 1,724 yards, he's San Jose State's career leader for tight ends in both categories. He will play in the Senior Bowl on Jan. 26 in Mobile, Ala.
Johnson, a senior, led the Spartans with 12 sacks and 19 tackles for loss and was fifth with 60 tackles. With 31 tackles and 46.5 tackles for loss, he's SJSU's career leader in those categories. Johnson will play in the Casino del Sol College All-Star Game on Jan. 11 in Tucson, Ariz.
Kicker Austin Lopez was also recently named to the FoxSportsNext.com Freshman All-American team as a first-team choice.
