MORAGA -- Senior point guard Matthew Dellavedova was named West Coast Conference Player of the Week after leading the Saint Mary's College men's basketball team to crucial home wins over BYU and Creighton.
Dellavedova scored 20 points in a 64-57 victory over BYU that clinched a second place in the regular season standings and a top two seed in the WCC tournament. In a 74-66 BracketBusters win over Creighton, the Australia native contributed 19 points, six assists and five rebounds.
He played 79 of 80 minutes in the two games.
Though Dellavedova is the reigning WCC Player of the Year and the Gaels' leading scorer, this is his first weekly conference honor of the season. Teammate Beau Levesque earned the honor Jan. 28.
