Wintertime, and the crustaceans are boiling.

This is the time of year that community organizations raise funds by serving fresh-cracked crab, and your loyal columnist is once again providing a list of the events. So select a cause and crack some claws at one of these feeds already scheduled in West County -- with more undoubtedly on the way.

  • Doors open at 5 p.m. Jan. 8 for the 18th annual crab feed at the Pinole Senior Center, 2500 Charles Ave., with serving time at 6 p.m. for Dungeness crab, pasta, green salad, garlic bread, dessert and coffee. The center will offer a no-host bar. Tickets are $40 each, available only in advance at the center. For details, call 510-724-9800.

  • The 46th annual crab feed at Salesian High School is Jan. 14 and 15 in the gymnasium at the school, 2851 Salesian Ave. in Richmond. Cocktails are at 7 p.m. and dinner at 8 p.m. Jan. 14, while social hour is 6 p.m. and dinner is 7 p.m. Jan. 15, with the latter meal followed by music and dancing.   • The 20th annual San Pablo Lions Club feed is Jan. 15 at the San Pablo Senior Center, 1943 Church Lane. A 5:30 p.m. social hour precedes the 6 p.m. "one-sitting" dinner of salad, pasta, bread and chilled, cracked Dungeness crab. Dinner tickets are $35 available from any San Pablo Lions Club member or by calling Cecil Webster at 510-724-8811. Proceeds go to the club's community service fund.

  • The Rotary Club of Hercules feed of all-you-can-eat crab and tri-tip is at 6 p.m. Jan. 15 at the Community Swim Center, 2001 Refugio Valley Road. The event includes a silent auction and raffle.   • A hot roasted garlic crab feed fundraiser to benefit the Hercules East Bay Silver Dolphins and Hercules Piranhas swim teams is 5 to 9:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Community Swim Center, 2001 Refugio Valley Road. An evening of dinner, dancing, auctions and more is $45 adults and $25 children, available in advance only by contacting Alexandra Johnson at 510-799-8229 or ajohnson@ci.hercules.ca.us.

  • The first-ever feed hosted by the Rotary Club of Richmond is 6:30 p.m. Jan. 26 at Salesian High School, 2851 Salesian Ave. in Richmond. The menu includes salad, antipasto, garlic bread and a parade of crab (bring your own sauce). Tickets are $40 each and reservations must be made and paid by Jan. 21.

  • The annual feed put on by the Northern California Cruisers classic car club is 6 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Fratellanza Club, 1149 66th St. in Oakland. The evening includes a raffle and silent auction, the club has a full bar and chicken dinners will be available upon request. The feed is a benefit for local charities and tickets are $40 each, available by calling Cathie at 510-233-0721.

  • Pinole police and fire personnel will be honored at the annual feed hosted by the Pinole-Hercules Exchange Club at 6 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Pinole Senior Center, 2500 Charles Ave. Tickets are $35, sold in advance only.   • The girls varsity and junior varsity soccer teams at El Cerrito High School are among the beneficiaries of the Albany-El Cerrito Exchange Club feed at 6 p.m. Jan. 29 at the El Cerrito Community Center, 7007 Moeser Lane. The evening includes a raffle, no-host bar and prizes and proceeds assist local youth groups and projects.   • Hercules Lions Club hosts a feed from 6 to 9 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Community Swim Center, 2001 Refugio Valley Road in Hercules, that includes dancing and entertainment all evening. Proceeds benefit the West Contra Costa Leo Club, the service club's youth arm.   • The 11th annual Valentine's feed with the Richmond Chamber of Commerce is 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Memorial Auditorium, 403 Civic Center Plaza in Richmond. Fresh crab and side dishes prepared by the Culinary Academy at Contra Costa College are augmented by live entertainment, live and silent auctions, prize drawings and more.
