MADE IN JERSEY stars Janet Montgomery as Martina Garretti, a young working class woman who uses her street smarts to compete as a first year lawyer among her pedigreed Manhattan colleagues at a prestigious New York law firm. Apparently "Made in Jersey" was not made to last. The razor-sharp TV ax has fallen and the first victim of the new season is the Friday-night legal drama.

CBS on Wednesday canceled "Made in Jersey" after two very low-rated episodes. Talk about a brief stint. Some of Snooki's relationships have lasted longer.

To fill the void, "Undercover Boss" will join CBS' Friday night lineup starting Nov. 2, with "CSI: NY" shifting to 9 p.m.

"Made in Jersey" debuted to bad reviews and low ratings, premiering with 7.7 million viewers and a dismal 1.1 rating among adults 18-49. Last week, the Janet Montgomery drama dropped to 5.8 million viewers and a 0.8 rating.

Consider it a mild upset. I had Fox's ludicrous "The Mob Doctor" on top of my TV cancellation pool. Meanwhile, a poll of our readers tabbed NBC's lame sitcom "Animal Practice" as the leading choice to be dumped.

Ah, but the season is young. Expect several more casualties in the coming weeks.
