San Francisco Playhouse is christening its brand new theater and celebrating its 10th anniversary with the outrageous musical "Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson."

Old Hickory is reinvented as a rock god in this Wild West musical with score by Michael Friedman and book by Alex Timbers. Ashkon Davaran stars as the wildly popular seventh president who here forges the nation with equal parts rock music, manifest destiny and savagery. Directed by the redoubtable Jon Tracy (remember the remarkable "Any Given Day" at the Magic?), it runs through Nov. 24 at the San Francisco Playhouse, 450 Post St., San Francisco.

Tickets are $30-$70. 415-677-9596, or www.sfplayhouse.org.
