Anxious to get into the political mode? Check out the Tabard Theatre Company's production of "Trying."
It's the story of a cranky old former U.S. attorney general who tears through one secretary after another as he writes his memoirs until he runs into a feisty young Canadian woman. Based on Joanna McClelland Glass' real experiences with Francis Biddle in his octogenarian years, the play touches on the life of a pivotal statesman (Biddle was a key figure during the Nuremberg trials and attorney general under FDR).
Starring Kurt Gravenhorst, it runs Nov. 2-18 in its local premiere at the Theatre on San Pedro Square, 29 N. San Pedro St., San Jose. $10-$35. 800-838-300, www.tabardtheatre.org.
