A 50-year-old Daly City woman was plucked from a coastal trail by a helicopter crew after becoming dehydrated during an afternoon hike Monday.

Southern Marin Fire District Capt. James Moore said the woman's daughter called for help about 3:20 p.m, after the mother became sick while hiking on a hot day near Pirate's Cove, between Muir Beach and Tennessee Valley Beach.

"We had to hike in to find her," Capt. Moore said, noting Tam Valley fire crews from Engine 4 and Medic 4 hit the trail and found the victim "sitting down and not feeling great."

Because the fastest way to get her to the hospital was a helicopter, a CHP chopper based in Napa was called in and took the woman to Tennessee Valley Beach, where an ambulance took her to Kaiser Permanente in San Rafael.
