HALF MOON BAY -- Authorities on Thursday pulled a dead man from the water at Miramar Beach, the third body to wash up on the San Mateo County shore in less than two weeks.
A tourist at a hotel in the area spotted the body in the surf about 9:30 a.m. and rescue workers found the man just past the surf line, San Mateo County Sheriff's Detective Rebecca Rosenblatt said. The man appears to be in his 30s and has not been identified.
Police said there were no obvious signs of violence and have not determined a cause of death.
On Oct. 21, the body of Albany High School student Cathy Qiu, 16, of Richmond, was found dead on San Gregorio State Beach, about 11 miles south of Half Moon Bay. Then on Monday a person discovered the body of Eric Daniel Lower, 44, of Pacifica, on the beach near Pillar Point Harbor. Both deaths remain under investigation.
