GILROY -- A drive-by shooting Wednesday of a car and residence that missed eight people inside the home -- ranging from 4 months to 46 years old -- is believed to be gang related, police said.

Officers were called to the area of 10th Street and Glenview Drive at 12:14 a.m. on reports of multiple gunshots being fired. They saw that bullets had struck an unoccupied parked vehicle and the residence.

After the shooting, witnesses saw a red, early 1990s Honda Civic hatchback leaving south on Glenview, and police believe the car was involved in the gunplay.

Based on statements from witnesses and people in the home, police believe the incident was gang-related.
