OAKLAND -- A man was shot and killed Sunday night, marking the city's 126th homicide.

Police responded to the 700 block of Market Street around 8:25 p.m., according to authorities, for reports of gunshots fired.

When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not released the man's identity, pending notification of his family.

This is the second homicide of the weekend leading up to the Christmas holiday.

Both men were transported to a hospital. One, a 45-year-old, was pronounced dead, and the other, 58, is in critical but stable condition, police said.
