Stage Right presents 'Hansel and Gretel
ANTIOCH -- Stage Right Conservatory Theatre Inc. presents "Hansel and Gretel at the Nick Rodriguez Community Center, 213 F St.
Adapted by Vera Morris, the play is based on the classic story by the Brothers Grimm and produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service Inc. Bryan Anthony directs. Performances are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Additional performances are Feb. 22 and 23 and 2 p.m. 24.

Local farmers honored for art banners
BRENTWOOD -- The East Contra Costa Historical Society and the city of Brentwood will host a reception "Shifting Perception on the Urban Edge, for art banners honoring local farmers 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 28, at the Brentwood Community Center, Public Art Walls, 35 Oak St.
The farmers and families will be introduced at 7:30 p.m.

Art4Schools exhibit set at Lynn House Gallery
ANTIOCH -- The Arts & Cultural Foundation of Antioch will host the Ninth annual Art4Schools exhibits at the Lynn House Gallery.
The Art4Schools exhibits features Antioch Unified School District classrooms involved
The first exhibit includes: Antioch High School, Deer Valley High School and Dozier Libbey Medical High School. An artist reception will held from 5-7 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Lynn House Gallery at 809 W. First St. Prizes will be awarded to the top artists.
The Art4Schools program will continue with additional exhibits through May 25.
The Galley is open Wednesdays and Saturdays, 1-4 p.m., during exhibits. There is no admission fee for the reception or exhibit.
GATO plans Cesar Chavez holiday event March 24
ANTIOCH -- Give Always to Others & Company will host its annual free Cesar E. Chavez State Holiday event at 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Antioch High School, Marion Beede Auditorium, 700 W. 18th St.
The event will feature traditional music performances and exhibits. Speakers who knew of Cesar Chavez or his work in the civil rights movement for farm workers will also be on the program. There will also be display and information tables.

"We Will Rock You, rocks
BRENTWOOD -- Heritage High School Rising Stars is the first and only high school drama club in the U. S. to premiere Queen s rock musical "We Will Rock You in 2013. And -- they will roll out the red carpet presenting an all-out rock-concert production with designer costumes, searchlights, special effects, a logo-laden backdrop, strobe lights and more. Chris Fallows directs.
The story is based in the distant future at a time when musical instruments have been banned and kids are no longer able to make their own music. But resistance is growing. Underneath the gleaming cities, down in the lower depths live the Bohemians. Rebels who believe that there was once a Golden Age when the kids formed their own bands and write their own songs. They call that time, The Rhapsody.
Performances will be 7 p.m. March 1 (sold-out), 2, 7, 8, 9, 14 and 15 and 1 p.m. March 9 and 16 at Heritage High School, 101 American Ave.

Rodgers & Hammerstein s Musical Revue comes to Brentwood
BRENTWOOD -- Broadway Under The Stars presents Rodgers & Hammerstein s Musical Revue: "A Grand Night For Singing 8 p.m. March 8 and 2 p.m. March 10.

Music Studio hosts trio for Sunday
BRENTWOOD -- Thompson Music Studio presents The Villa Trio 4 p.m. Sunday at 2628 Saint Andrews Drive in Brentwood.
The trio, consisting of Roy Oakley, violin, Nancy Bachmann, piano, and David Wishnia, cello, perform Piano Trio No. 2 in G Major, Op. 1 No. 2 by Ludwig van Beethoven, Nine Miniatures for Piano Trio by Nancy Bachmann and Piano trio in G Major by Claude Debussy.
Doors open at 3:30 p.m. Complimentary food and drink will be served.

Gem show set for Feb. 16 and 17
ANTIOCH -- The Antioch Lapidary Club will hold its annual Jewelry, Rock and Gem Show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds, 1201 W. 10th St.
The show will include demonstrations of lapidary arts, dealers of faceted stones, lapidary tools, findings, handmade jewelry, rocks, beads, supplies, opals, fossils and minerals.
Admission is $4 per person; active military with identification and spouse, Scouts in uniform and children 12 and under are free.
Tom State Jr. is Art League s artist of month
BRENTWOOD -- Discover Art League has named Tom State Jr. as Artist of the Month for February.
State is a resident of Discovery Bay and has been associated with The Discover Art League for a number of years. He works in several mediums, including sepia ink, watercolor and charcoal.
Several pieces of his work will be exhibited at CR Framing, 700 Harvest Park Drive through March 1. CR Framing is open 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
