A Vacaville man was sentenced to more than 150-years-to-life in state prison on Tuesday for a 2011 incident in which he picked up an intoxicated Bay Area woman at an Oakland bar and drove her to Vacaville, where he subjected her to hours of abuse and rape.

Howard K. Forbes, 41, was convicted by a nine-woman, three-man Solano County Superior Court jury in October on all nine counts he faced related to kidnapping, rape, assault and other forcible sex crimes. The victim in the case, only referred to as Jane Doe, addressed Judge E. Bradley Nelson at sentencing on Tuesday, describing the physical and emotional toll she had suffered since the incident.

It was the early morning hours of Sept. 25, 2011, and the victim testified at trial that she woke up around 2 a.m. with Forbes on top of her. Unaware of her location, she tried to leave, but Forbes blocked her exit and the abuse continued.
