OAKLAND-- A robbery suspect was arrested Friday evening after officers on targeted robbery patrol spotted him on the street in a residential neighborhood, police said.

The unidentified suspect, who was wanted in connection with a recent robbery, was spotted by officers in the 2600 block of East 27th Street just after 6 p.m., authorities said. The officers were on patrol specifically targeting robbery and burglary offenses.

When the suspect ignored officers' commands, they used a Taser to gain control of him, police said. The suspect was found to be armed with a gun and had various drugs in his possession.

No information was immediately available regarding the suspect's identity or the robbery in question. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
