ANTIOCH -- The city is looking for a few civic-minded men and women to serve on two key city advisory boards.
Antioch is seeking three applicants to serve a four-year term on the Planning Commission, and likely two for partial terms on the Police Crime Prevention Commission, which would expire in June 2016.
Planning commissioners makes decisions and recommendations to the City Council on land use, zoning, design review and general plan issues. Crime prevention commissioners makes recommendations to the council on crime prevention and makes reports on programs, which might be initiated to help the police and the citizens create a safer community. They also give public presentations and coordinate Neighborhood Watch groups and programs.
The Planning Commission meets 6:30 p.m. on first and third Wednesday at the City Council chamber, 200 H St. The Crime Prevention Commission meets 7 p.m. on the third Monday of each month at the Police Department Community Room, 300 L St.
Completed applications for the planning commission must be received in the office of the City Clerk by than 5 p.m. Aug. 28, while the police commission applications would be due Sept. 19.
