Patty Cakes Story Time: 11-11:15 a.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 10-Nov. 26. For babies and tots up to 3 years old attending with a caregiver, the program features songs, rhymes and stories with an aim to early literacy. It will then take a short vacation.
Picture Book Time: 11-11:30 a.m. Thursdays, Sept. 12-Nov. 21. Children 3-5 years old may attend without a caregiver.
Book Buddies: 1-2 p.m. Wednesdays (Call 925-673-0659 to confirm the program on a specific Wednesday). A book buddy volunteer reader is in the library to read stories to children 3 and older.
Clayton Library Book Club: 7-9 p.m. on the second Mondays is open to interested adults. On Sept. 9, Sunny Solomon leads the discussion on "Flight Behavior" by Barbara Kingsolver.

Bilingual Story Time: 1:30-2 p.m. Mondays through Sept. 30 (no session Sept. 2). Children ages 0-5 can listen to stories and songs in English and Spanish.
LEGO & Listen: 7 p.m. Sept. 23. Kids ages 6-12 can build with Lego blocks while listening to a recorded book. Space is limited and registration is required the day before the program.
Wiggle & Giggle with Liz Mac: 12:30-1 p.m. Sept. 19. Tots 2-4 can have fun dancing to music.
Toddler Tumble Time: noon-1:15 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 26-Oct. 24. Kids ages 1-3 1/2 and their parents can participate with early literacy toys. Registration is required, and begins at 9 a.m. Sept. 3. Limited to the first 25 kids.
Bean Art Craft: 7-8 p.m. Sept. 30. Kids ages 5-11 can create art with beans.
Free Mock SAT Essay Practice: 7-8:30 p.m. Sept. 9. Teens can learn to recognize what essay graders want, strategies on writing high-scoring essays, writing an essay in a test-like environment, and receiving a score from an expert grader. Register at http://www.kaptest.com/enroll/SAT/94519/events.

ACT Results: 7-8:30 p.m. Sept. 23. Participants in the mock exam come back and review their results.
Explore Music with the Blue Devils: 7-8 p.m. Sept. 16. Visitors can see the Blue Devils color guard and musician demonstrations and then try it for themselves.

All Ears Reading Insiders Group: 1:30-2:30 p.m. Sept. 11. Adults with developmental disabilities are invited to practice their reading skills to gentle and patient listeners -- dogs. In partnership with ARF, dog teams will be available for a short one-on-one reading session. Participants should sign up at the door upon arrival.
Insiders: 12:30-1:30 p.m. Sept. 25. Adults with disabilities can enjoy a laid-back setting in the library for enrichment and fun. Events differ each month and vary from arts and crafts, enjoying music and dance, and playing games on the Wii.
Concord Mystery Book Club: 2:30 p.m. the second Sunday of the month, and mystery lovers are invited to join the group. The Sept. 8 discussion is on "Cold Wind" by C.J. Box.
Knitting and crochet group: 1:15-4:45 p.m. Aug. 31. Knitters and crocheters of all levels are welcome. Drop in anytime to knit, crochet and network. Free knitting and crocheting instruction. Some practice yarn provided, but bring your own needles.
ESL Conversation Group: 7-8 p.m. Thursdays. Adults can practice their English conversation skills in an informal, friendly and small-group setting.
Computer Tutoring: 10-11 a.m. and 11 a.m.-noon Fridays; and 2-3 p.m. and 3-4 p.m. Saturdays. Adults can get one-on-one help with basic computer instruction -- setting up an email account, searching the Internet, formatting a Word document and beginning Excel skills.
Small claims adviser workshop: 5:30-8 p.m. the second Thursday of the month, presented by the Contra Costa County Superior Court. The program is free and open to everyone. No registration, but latecomers will not be admitted due to the large amount of information to be covered.
